joimax

Your Expert in Endoscopic Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

joimax® is the leading developer and marketer of complete systems for endoscopic minimally invasive spinal surgery. With TESSYS®(transforaminal), iLESSYS® (interlaminar) and CESSYS® (cervical) for decompression procedures, MultiZYTE® Facet (e.g. for treatment of facet joints) and MultiZYTE® Sacroiliac (for treatment of Sacroiliac Joint Syndrome) or with EndoLIF® and Percusys® for minimally-invasive endoscopic assisted stabilizations, proven endoscopic systems are provided that, together, cover a variety of indications. In procedures for herniated disc, stenosis, pain therapy or spinal stabilization treatment, surgeons utilize joimax® technologies to operate through small incisions – under local or general anesthetic – via tissue and muscle-sparing corridors through natural openings into the spinal canal (e.g. intervertebral foramen, the “Kambin triangle”).

Endoscopic Spine Surgery

The innovative endoscopic surgical methods of joimax® offer you and your patients state-of-the-art treatment options for a broad range of indications. All of the minimally invasive procedures are performed by using HD-endoscopes: the surgeon inserts the endoscope through a small incision which allows access to the surgical field and direct visualization of the nerve roots. As the surgeon progressively dilates the access through the soft tissue and muscles the problem area can be treated very gently, using instruments with ramping up diameters, and with minimal adverse effect on the surrounding structures.
The joimax® product portfolio is based on 3 pillars covering decompression / deherniation, pain therapy and stabilization methods. Endoscopic spine surgery rises significantly and is becoming more and more state-of-the-art.

Depending on the severity of the patients´ complaints different stages of treatment can be applied (see right figure below). The qualified and standardized joimax® Training Program supports the basic principle of medicine – safe and effective treatment according to the current level of technology and scientific progress.

Intracs® em – The smart navigation system is based on electromagnetic tracking. Navigating the sensor tip makes it particularly suitable for an easy access to any spinal target. To reach outstanding accuracy, the instruments are tracked directly at the tip. Therefore, bending of needles or other slightly flexible instruments will not affect the precision of the navigation.

  • Intracs® em  Navigation System can be integrated in the joimax® Endoscopic Tower or used as a stand-alone solution.
  • Existing installations can be easily upgraded.
  • The high-quality medical grade PC with 22“ touch display is completely sealed and therefore easy to clean and disinfect.
  • The Intracs® em Field Generator is integrated into the Intracs® em Table Pad, being placed directly onto the OR table or mounted onto the especially designed Intracs® em Holding Arm.
  • Most of the joimax®  instruments are navigated with highest accuracy through various Intracs® em  sensors. As a result, the procedure can be carried out without constant X-ray control. Intervention time and radiation dose will be drastically reduced.

Endoscopic spinal surgery procedures from joimax® offer many advantages:

  • The operation is performed with minimal trauma to any surrounding tissue, as muscles, ligaments and tendons need not be disrupted.
  • Faster recovery of the patient: Clinical studies have shown a quicker return to work1,2 after endoscopic disc surgery. In the current economic climate, patients are interested in returning to work as quickly as possible. So the advantages perceived by the patient might possibly lead to an increase of patient numbers and referrals when offering this kind of minimally invasive spine surgery procedures.
  • Patients require much less anesthesia during minimally invasive surgeries or even can be treated with analgesic sedation – so the patient is conscious during surgery and the surgeon is able to see directly the patient’s reaction to possible pain.
  • Sophisticated technology “Made in Germany”: Optimal visualization of the surgical field in HD quality; throughout the operation the camera at the end of the endoscope provides large-scale images of the operative field allowing the surgeon to perform the surgery through a minor incision while watching it on the monitor.
  • Especially adapted instrumentation developed in close cooperation with experienced surgeons.

Education Program

Dynamic 3-step-concept to learn the joimax® surgical techniques

Education of the surgeon and the complete surgical team. By participating in the Education Program you have the opportunity to learn the surgical techniques in three steps. In addition to the education and training of your complete surgical team, our holistic education concept also comprises the professional supervising of your first surgeries.

1. Visitation: Experience live procedures

  • Participation in surgical operations at selected training centers
  • Indication related application of all instruments and devices
  • Exchange of experiences with surgeons, anesthesiologists and surgical staff as well as patient contact

2. Cadaver Workshop: Train on surgical techniques step-by-step

  • Guidelines: anatomy, indications/contraindications, case studies, anesthesiology, step-by-step surgical technique, instruments
  • Hands-on anatomical specimen training
  • Exchange of experiences

3. First Surgery: Operate on your own patients

  • Ongoing support will be provided by a joimax®applications specialist and/or a reference/trainer surgeon
  • Training for the entire surgical team

What our participants say:

“Exactly one year ago, I attended a Joimax basic course in Frankfurt. The course was great, the staff very supportive and I decided to adopt endoscopic surgery. During the year, I attended another course in Düsseldorf, visited the great Menno Iprenburg and three other excellent surgeons. Last week, a brilliant surgeon vastly experienced in endoscopy came to Amman and together we did EIGHT fantastic cases. Thank you Dr Guntram Krzok. I learned so much from you, and will always be grateful. I am delighted to let you know that I started my cases of endoscopic surgery in Amman and already did a decompression and a disc case in my first week! I am absolutely confident that my team and I in Jordan will be offering this great technology to a huge number of patients from the whole of the middle east. This success will never have taken place without the support of Joimax.” Dr Muhammed Assous, FRCS, FRCS Orth CCST, Consultant Spinal Surgeon, Jordan, October 2017

We facilitate your start and minimize your learning curve!

With the workshops of the CM3 program, joimax® offers a broad range of courses to learn the latest endoscopic spine surgery techniques. The Endoscopic Basic Course takes place on 2 days, in order to provide the participants with the widest possible basis. Especially for beginners the unique transforaminal access to the spinal canal and the spatial orientation of the view through the endoscope can be challenging. The two-days Endoscopic Advanced Course is designed to deepen the knowledge and expand further surgical techniques, e.g. cervical treatment options, and is therefore in particular suitable for the experienced surgeon. The one-day courses offer additional new surgical options in Pain Therapy and Decompression and MIS Stabilization.

joimax® EndoTrainer – Simulator for the endoscopic transforaminal access to the lumbar spine

Another important tool for education is the joimax® EndoTrainer, which is used to train the TESSYS® surgical method. Under virtual conditions with a realistic haptic feedback the fluoroscopic controlled transforaminal access can be learned.

Advantages of the EndoTrainer

  • Increase of safety for transforaminal access to the lumbar spinal canal
  • Imparts an imagination for haptics and orientation
  • Stepwise introduction and training of the entire OR-team for endoscopic spine surgery
